Employment Law

We have experience in advising and representing both employers and employees.

If you are an individual who requires employment advice you may be eligible for free advice under a Legal Help Scheme, provided by the Legal Services Commission. We can assess your eligibility for this scheme.

As an employee you have a number of fundamental rights. You may need our advice and assistance should any one of those rights appear to be infringed.

We have the skills to attempt to resolve matters by negotiation; but should it be impossible to conclude matters amicably then we are able to prepare employee applications to an Employment Tribunal, or respond to an application on behalf of an employer. We have the advocacy skills and experience to represent you at the Employment Tribunal Hearing

Both employees and employers need to be entirely aware of statutory rights. We have knowledge and experience of the following areas so we can advise you generally or with regard to a particular case:-

  • Discrimination – sex, race, sexual orientation, religion and disability
  • Equal Pay
  • Unfair dismissal and termination of employment
  • Redundancy
  • Breach of Contract
  • Compromise Agreements
  • Transfer of a business
  • Families, maternity and paternity rights.

We are happy to advise employers generally about policies and procedures with a view to minimising the risk of contentious litigation. For example, we can offer advice about the consultation that should occur between employee and employer where there are potential redundancies; selection criteria for redundancy; draft terms and conditions of employment; and write Grievance and Disciplinary procedures to fit your business or company. If there is a need to dismiss an employee then we will offer comprehensive advice on how to do this fairly so litigation is avoided.
