We have a growing portfolio of farming clients in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex for whom we provide a comprehensive service including:-
We have been advising farmers and looking after their legal affairs for over 170 years and there is not much we do not know about farmers and their legal requirements.
Our rural business team is headed by Partner Rhodri Rees (property) and includes Melanie Pratlett (wills, tax and succession) and Tom Harrison (dispute resolution). We aim to provide a service tailored to the individual needs of the farming client and are quite happy to come and get our Wellington boots muddy.
Farmers have an enviable record of productivity and efficiency in East Anglia but still need to be constantly aware of the changing legal and regulatory framework within which they operate. There are obvious benefits from having a brief legal health check to look at issues such as registration of land to avoid squatters and boundary disputes, wills and inheritance tax planning and business structures.
Farmers like all other businesses are subject to an ever increasing raft of regulations including, of course, those inspired by the European Community. Diversification is something that all farmers will want to look at and planning opportunities should not be ignored.
We have close relationships with local agricultural land agents, accountants and other professionals to ensure a “joined-up” approach to farm business planning and implementation.
Our role is to provide simple affective and economic advice to our farming clients that will enable them to get on with the job of productive farming safe in the knowledge that their legal affairs are in order.
