Domestic Violence
Domestic violence and abuse can affect anyone regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or income. Domestic violence encompasses more than just physical assault. It can also include verbal abuse, financial control, emotional manipulation and other coercive and abusive behaviours. The abuse can be experienced within a current relationship or from an ex partner.
At Adams Harrison, we have a team of specialists, including a Resolution Accredited Member specialising in domestic violence. We are able to assist you sensitively and efficiently to obtain appropriate legal protection against your abuser. This can include Court Orders to prevent the abusive behaviour, to remove a person from your home or prevent them coming to your home. We have links to local domestic violence organisations that can offer support and regularly receive referrals from local refuges for us to assist their residents.
In many cases, Legal Aid is still available to assist those that have or are suffering from domestic abuse in seeking legal protection. In addition, Legal Aid may be available to assist victims with issues in relation to divorce proceedings, their children or financial matters arising out of the breakdown of a relationship.
We appreciate that it can be difficult to take the first step and our dedicated team are here to offer you entirely confidential advice and assistance.
If you are in immediate danger, you should call the Police for urgent assistance.
