Adams Harrison Give Advice to Students at Uttlesford Careers Event.

On 21st November staff from Adams Harrison attended the Uttlesford Careers Event which was held at Saffron Hall.

Students aged 14 – 18 attended the event from Saffron Walden County High School, Helena Romanes School, Joyce Frankland Academy and Harlow and Stansted Airport Colleges.

In the photo are (left to right) Partner and Solicitor Jack Stewart; Trainee Solicitor Briony Dodson; and Solicitor Tanya See. Also in attendance earlier in the day were Practice Manager Louise Taghi and Trainee Solicitor Luke Gardiner.

All staff from Adams Harrison were impressed by the level of interest and engagement demonstrated by the students and they were able to advise on the variety of roles in the legal profession and the different career options and routes to qualification.

Each Christmas our staff nominate three charities (one located close to each office) to receive a donation which we make in lieu of sending Christmas Cards.

We were delighted to meet Jo Revitt from Papworth Trust on 5th January to present her with a donation cheque for £150.

Adams Harrison donate to 3 charities each Christmas (local to each of our three offices) as an alternative to sending Christmas cards.

Actually, Sarah joined the firm in 1998 which makes it 24 years but she did have a brief sojourn and then rejoined the firm 15 years ago.

Adams Harrison Makes Donation To Saffron Walden Charity In Lieu Of Sending Christmas Cards

The Partners at Adams Harrison have, for a number of years, donated to good causes at Christmas in lieu of sending Christmas cards. This helps the environment by reducing paper usage and waste, and staff are asked to make suggestions as to which local good cause should receive a donation, and a good cause local to each office is chosen.

For December 2021 Café Cornell was chosen to be the recipient of a £200 donation from the Saffron Walden office.

Staff and helpers visited the Adams Harrison office on Wednesday 13 January to receive the cheque.

Practice Manager, Louise Taghi, said

We take our community and social responsibilities very seriously and for a number of years we have made donations to local good causes in lieu of sending Christmas cards. We are conscious of the negative environmental impact of sending Christmas cards and we used the money saved to donate to a good cause. Café Cornell has been operating at Cornell Court in Saffron Walden since May 2021 for residents and general public and also offers a work-based training scheme which is focused on enabling individuals facing challenges and barriers to work to build confidence and to work towards formal qualifications. We were delighted to welcome trainees, staff and volunteers to our ‘covid-safe’ space in our car park on Wednesday so that we could present them with a cheque for £200.

The partners of Adams Harrison have decided that in lieu of sending corporate Christmas cards they will be donating the money normally spent to three local charities  – REACH Haverhill; The John Huntingdon’s Charity in Sawston and Café Cornell in Saffron Walden. In addition to supporting local charities this is also incorporating the firm’s commitment to reduce it’s environmental impact. Our gazebo provides an alternative option for clients or contacts that would like to meet in person the lawyer advising them, whilst social distancing. We can offer, where appropriate, appointments inside our offices, also. We have Perspex protective screens in place. In the majority of cases we continue to provide legal advice via remote means. Uttlesford Schools Careers Fair

Adams Harrison staff attended a very successful Careers Fair held at Saffron Walden County High School last ‘night and attach the Certificate of Appreciation that was awarded to us.

Sue Lawton was joined by Emma Laidlaw, Jack Stewart and Matt Darmon and they were able to chat to parents and students about a career in the law and how best to achieve their goal.

Over 90 exhibitors took part and it was very well attended.
